Choi Kwang Do (CKD) offers an extensive range of programmes to help develop every individual to the best of their personal ability. All ages and abilities can develop themselves through trainning in the same environment.
Choi Kwang Do is an excellent training system for children. Teaching respect, discipline, good interactive and communication skills; Choi Kwang Do also greatly helps to advance a child's ability to focus, concentrate and learn because of the unique bi-lateral movements that have been proven to develop the growth of the neural pathways in the brain. Terrific for children with ADD, ADHD, Dyspraxia and just lots of energy.
Choi Kwang Do is not just for the fit and healthy of individuals, as people of all ages and abilities can train at Choi Kwang Do. As the art is based on scientific principles, it is designed to deliver maximum effect with minimal effort.
PRACTICAL SELF DEFENCE:
Each of the drills are practiced / performed in a safe environment to enhance the student’s ability, confidence and well-being It focuses on progressive training at all levels.
METHODS OF APPLICATION
Once techniques are practiced, they are performed in sequential motion that work in turn, work the body aerobically, anaerobically and with resistance to increase stamina and endurance of the practitioner, not only for training, but as a way of keeping healthy for life. Certain sequences of techniques are performed at a faster rate to develop speed, agility and explosive power, essential for self-defence.
CHOI KWANG DO FOR KIDS
With the emphasis on defence, rather than attack, the practitioner learns to avoid confrontation. When there is no other choice, we need to block / counter and the defence drill methods we use allow us to do so without incurring injury whilst maximizing force to stop an attacker as quickly and as effectively as possible.
The equipment represents practical targets for ease of use and correct application. Should a practitioner need to use such techniques, they have conditioned their mind and body to not only be more alert, but react accordingly to a sudden attack that may not be anticipated.
CHOI KWANG DO FOR ADULTS
The Biomechanics used allow the practitioner to develop maximum force whilst promoting health and reduce the chance of injury. They enhance mobility, joint and muscle strength, endurance and fitness. Technical Application develops co-ordination, muscle memory and reaction skills for effective and safe self-defence.
Warm Up Stretches:
Classes start with a stretching method designed to prepare the body for training whilst increasing flexibility, strength and a greater range of motion ready for the techniques and drills. The development of flexibility comes from both the regular practice and control of motion through specific breathing techniques.
FAMILY FRIENDLY CLASSES:
Children and adults can train together in our classes designed for the whole family. The greater the range of people we train with, the more we can learn and the better are skills become in the Martial Art. It is also good for practicing together outside of class, so we can learn more within the training hall.
When you start, you are allocated an instructor who will teach you the basics and commence your Choi Kwang Do training. As there is never any rush with training, commiting to once, twice or 3 times a week can see a steady progression and one you can benefit from.
Our flexabilty with the classes allows you to make up any classes missed, so you can be sure to keep up your training to fit in with day to day commitments.
